Hi, I’m Dorothy.
I’m a Detroit-based writer, editor and cook.
As a third-grade spelling nerd, I took pride in writing sentences to go with the vocabulary words of the week. As a naturally nosy kid, I would write about what I saw around me. On one of my tests, my teacher wrote, "Dorothy, you are a great writer. You should be a journalist." I didn't even know what that was at the time, but ever since that comment written at the top of my spelling test, I have called myself a journalist.
I’m a marketing and communications manager for a nonprofit by day and food entrepreneur and freelancer for hire by night. When I am not writing stories or deleting dangling modifiers, you can usually find me in a kitchen working on recipes or doing pop-up dinners as the co-owner of Sarap, a Filipino pop-up restaurant.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my website. Feel free to contact me about freelance opportunities, grammar, or Buffy episodes.
